Just Talk

"Why is everybody here full of superficiality, chit-chatting all the time?" Lying in my bed at my home in Oaxaca, Mexico, I poured my frustration to my best friend Helen on phone.

I considered my first week at Oaxaca a nightmare, the exact opposite of my imagination.

Before arrival, I pictured Oaxaca as a beautiful town with a riot of colors and a wonderful opportunity to expose myself to diverse opinions. Having lived in a homogenous population for 17 years, I couldn’t stop thinking about exchanging ideas surrounding social issues and philosophical questions with other individuals from disparate backgrounds at Oaxaca.
